The Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom Program is pleased to announce the three winners of the National Ag Day coloring contest. There were nearly 120 entries received between the three age categories. Entries were due on March 1, then judged by members of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee.
One winner was selected in each of the age categories: age 6 and younger, age 7 to 9 and age 10 to 12. The winners were Maitlyn Mikl, age 6 of St. Croix County; Kelly Maier, age 9 of St. Croix County; and Riley Engum, age 11 of Eau Claire County. The winners received several agricultural books and a Culver’s gift card. All participants will also be receiving an Ag in the Classroom resource along with dairy-related classroom materials.
National Ag Day was celebrated on March 21. Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom conducted the coloring contest along with a reading event that encouraged farmers and volunteers to visit a classroom and read a book to the students. Participation numbers are being compiled and will be shared on Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom’s social media channels.
