In recent days I have stressed that Farm Bureau is fighting for farmers. This phrase has more punch to it and in times like this, we really do need to fight for solutions.
I have been asked by several members, “What is Farm Bureau doing?”
Well, I can guarantee you that our staff is working just as hard as our farmers. You can see some of the larger projects our staff has been working on in the ‘WFBF Actions’ section of our COVID-19 resources web page.
It has been incredible to watch these folks rise to the occasion putting in extra hours and working through sleepless nights as we feel the pain passed on from our farmers and agriculturists.
The cows never stop making milk. The hogs and beef cattle keep growing and eating. The crops still need to get planted. I thank my fellow farmers for forging ahead one day at a time even through the most challenging circumstances.
You can be assured that Farm Bureau is fighting for you, but I also ask you to help us by fighting for yourself. Our stories will be heard loud and clear if we all stand united in sharing our challenges and asking for solutions.
Are you bothered that your local grocery store is limiting the quantity of milk patrons can purchase? Have a phone conversation with the store manager.
Do you want to see changes to federal programs like DMC? Call or email your federal legislators.
Are you experiencing challenges getting livestock to market, or hearing about potential market disruptions? Call or email your state legislators to share what you’re going through.
Alone we can make a ripple, but together we can make waves.
Farm Bureau is known for grassroots advocacy and now is the time to reinforce that reputation.
At this point some of you may be thinking, “Are you kidding me? I don’t have time for that!”
WFBF has made it incredibly easy for you to contact your state and federal legislators.
Just use the ‘Find my Legislator’ links on the bottom of this page. The tools will lead you to pages that allow you to identify where you live, and a screen will show your legislators with email addresses and phone numbers.
Also make sure to share your stories with WFBF using this online form. Your stories will help WFBF in sharing real-world examples of challenges and show the need for quickly identifying and enacting solutions.
I always say we must work together and now is no different.
Forward together.
