The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation is grateful to McCade’s Joyride for their continued support of the Farm Neighbors Care program. Their generous donation will fuel initiatives to support our farmers who are facing mounting stress from market uncertainty, extreme weather, financial pressures and the everyday demands of farming. Initiatives include community meals, mental health training and resources, care packages and youth service projects.
McCade’s Joyride was started in 2018 to honor McCade Schubert who died by suicide in 2017. McCade’s Joyride is an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization raising awareness and money for suicide prevention in Southeast Wisconsin through car shows and cruises. To date, McCade’s Joyride has donated $17,500 to the Farm Neighbors Care program.
The Farm Neighbors Care campaign was started to support our farmers who are facing stress due to low market prices, poor weather and crop conditions, etc. Farming can be an isolating career, especially if other family members work off the farm. It is important to check in on your friends, neighbors and family members to gauge how they are doing and offer support and a listening ear.
The campaign asks rural residents to have face-to-face conversations with farmers and agri-business owners. For some, this conversation and check-in may be the dose of positivity needed to make it through a tough day.
