Mel Pittman of Plum City has been endorsed by the Volunteers for Agriculture Committee for the 31st Senate District. VFA is the political action arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation.
“As a farmer and conservationist, Mel Pittman understands the importance of striking a balance between good land stewardship, best management practices and government regulations,” said Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Senior Director of Governmental Relations Rob Richard.
The 31st Senate District includes portions of Buffalo, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix and Trempealeau counties. Pittman is a Republican seeking an open seat.
“The local farmers who interviewed Mel are confident in his understanding of the challenges the farming community faces,” said Richard. “Mel will work to create prosperity for our family farms and protect our natural resources for generations to come.”
The Volunteers for Agriculture Committee is comprised of 18 farmers from across the state and was formed to give farmers a more direct role in electing leaders who best represent agriculture’s interests.
