The following statement can be attributed to Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President Jim Holte:
“Wisconsin Farm Bureau is extremely pleased with Governor Walker’s appointment of Cris Peterson to serve on the UW Board of Regents. This is the first time a farmer has held this position in more than a decade.
A dairy farmer from Grantsburg, Cris is also a nationally-known children’s book author. Numerous books written by Cris have been named Book of the Year through Wisconsin’s Ag in the Classroom program.
A farmer’s voice is important to have on the UW Board of Regents. It’s crucial to have a seat at the table to express the need for agricultural education. It is vital to have strong programs in place to build our industry and give our future farmers and agri-business professionals guidance.
Governor Walker couldn’t have made a better pick with the appointment of Cris Peterson who is an author, agriculture advocate but foremost, a farmer.”
