The Wisconsin Farm Bureau is seeking a director of communications. Below is the position description.
Reports to: Executive Director of Public Relations
Basic Function: Writing, editing, and designing effective copy for newsletters, magazine articles, webpages, brochures, press releases, advertising, annual reports, direct mail and other communications to assist the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) in its mission.
General Responsibilities:
- Oversee the editing, layout, proofing and printing of county Farm Bureau newsletters.
- Writing and editing copy for newsletters, webpages, brochures, press releases and other WFBF communications.
- Provide content, coordinate and maintain the organization’s website.
- Provide graphic design and layout of the organization’s communications, including serving as Assistant Editor of the Rural Route magazine.
- Take photographs of Farm Bureau events and members. Maintain an agricultural photo library for use in WFBF’s website and publications.
- Maintain WFBF’s social media channels.
- Assist in coordinating responses to media inquiries with the Executive Director of Public Relations.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the organization’s style guide.
- Assume other duties and requested by the Executive Director of Public Relations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, English, marketing or a related field.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, InDesign, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and/or Prezi.
- Ability to proactively work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively juggle diverse writing demands.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to grammar and written presentation.
- Must possess a basic understanding and appreciation of Wisconsin’s agriculture industry.
- Available for occasional overnight travel.
- Valid driver’s license.
