2011 Wisconsin Act 58 was signed into law by Governor Walker on November 9, 2011.
2011 Wisconsin Act 58 allows for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) to issue oversized load permits for the transportation of hay or straw. These loads cannot exceed fifteen feet in height, except in urban areas, where the limit is fourteen feet six inches.
Previous state law prohibited DOT from issuing permits for oversized or overweight loads that can be reasonably divided.
The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation supported this legislation in order to accomodate modern equipment.
