Solar Contract Basics for Wisconsin Landowners
Wisconsin already has 33 large-scale solar developments (13 with battery storage) in place or under development in 21 of its 72 counties. Developers are approaching farmers and rural landowners to secure land leases or options to purchase.
Please join Wisconsin Farm Bureau and UW- Extension as we host workshops to teach landowners solar contract basics. Sherrie Gruder, LEED AP Distinguished Sustainable Design & Energy Specialist, and attorneys Bill Oemichen, J.D., Professor of Practice-Law, and Kelly T. Wilfert, J.D., Farm Law Extension Specialist I, will share what is expected in the solar development contracting process and what legal questions you may want to ask when negotiating a solar lease.
These workshops are part of a statewide Extension program to engage Wisconsin communities on large-scale renewable energy development and storage.
