Wisconsin Farm Bureau President Jim Holte issued the following statement regarding the recent milk market loss.<\/p>\n
\u201cApril has been a long month for Wisconsin\u2019s dairy community. Our deepest gratitude goes to everyone who has come together to help farm families without a milk buyer.<\/em><\/p>\n To the processors and cooperatives who stepped up, to the milk haulers who helped get information and resources to impacted farmers, we thank you for helping the farm families in need of assistance. We also greatly appreciate the work of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection\u2019s Farm Center working hard to connect farmers to processors. <\/em><\/p>\n The agricultural community worked together to find a short-term solution but now it is time to look for a long-term solution. <\/em><\/p>\n Trade is crucial to Wisconsin\u2019s agricultural economy, especially dairy. Small changes or disruptions can have a large ripple effect that negatively impact farmers, as we have seen demonstrated recently.<\/em><\/p>\n Global demand for dairy and other agricultural product is crucial to the success of the dairy community.
