{"id":37701,"date":"2020-09-29T10:55:56","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T15:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wfbf.com\/?p=37701"},"modified":"2020-09-29T10:55:56","modified_gmt":"2020-09-29T15:55:56","slug":"wisconsin-farm-bureau-announces-excellence-in-ag-finalists-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wfbf.com\/farm-bureau-news\/wisconsin-farm-bureau-announces-excellence-in-ag-finalists-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin Farm Bureau Announces Excellence in Ag Finalists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four individuals have been selected as Wisconsin Farm Bureau\u2019s Excellence in Ag finalists and will compete in November for the top honor.<\/p>\n<p>The Excellence in Ag award recognizes members of Farm Bureau\u2019s Young Farmer and Agriculturist Program who excel in their leadership abilities and involvement in agriculture, Farm Bureau and other civic and service organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have four outstanding agricultural advocates in this year\u2019s state competition,\u201d said Joe Bragger, WFBF President. \u201cThis contest highlights these individuals and how they have positively impacted Wisconsin agriculture and Farm Bureau and inspire others to do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The four finalists are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Stephanie Abts <\/strong>of Manitowoc County. Stephanie is a dairy nutritionist at Rio Creek Feed Mill, Inc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Natasha Paris <\/strong>of Green Lake County. Natasha is the agriculture teacher and FFA advisor in Ripon.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Julie Wadzinski <\/strong>of Barron County<strong>. <\/strong>Julie is a farm operations instructor at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kellie Zahn <\/strong>of Shawano County<strong>. <\/strong>Kellie is an agriculture agent at the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Excellence in Ag award applicants are agriculturists who have not derived a majority of their income from a farm (that they own) for the past three years. Examples of occupations of past finalists include agricultural education instructor, fertilizer salesperson, veterinarian, farm employee, journalist and marketer.<\/p>\n<p>Each finalist must make a presentation and answer questions for a panel of judges. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year\u2019s contest will be held virtually. This year\u2019s state winner will compete at the American Farm Bureau Federation\u2019s 2021 Annual Convention.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation co-sponsors this contest with GROWMARK Inc. and Rural Mutual Insurance Company. Farm Bureau\u2019s YFA program is open to members between the ages of 18 and 35.
