Jessica Schuh is from Calumet County and has been active in Farm Bureau for 14 years, first as a YFA chair at the county level with her husband Andy, and then she served three years on the WFBF YFA Committee. Now she serves as the Women’s committee chair for Calumet County.
She explained that she is an advanced emergency medical technician and also teaches at Fox Valley Technical College, the Public Safety and Training Center, Gold Cross Ambulance Service and is a American Animal Hospital Association instructor. All this and Jessica is a mom to six children.
Some of her favorite events are the YFA get-a-ways that usually have great speakers and other YFA events like hockey games. The whole family attended Farm Bureau events such as the WFBF Annual Meeting, which they have attended for 13 years.
Jessica likes meeting new people with the same rural interests. Her hobbies include sewing, scrapbooking, caring for her chickens and gardening. In preparation for the planing season, Jessica says that Andy will take care of the land and crops but she and the children will be planning the garden and deciding what vegetables to plant.
When asked about what excites her about the future of agriculture, Jessica replied that she is excited about raising six children involved in agriculture and the science related to agriculture. Knowing the answers to the why and how and questions that children and consumers ask. When she is teaching about saving lives, she also sneaks in some agriculture and corrects misinformation. Being raised a city gal she loves living on a farm and she said that she is living her dream!
