Located in Lodi, Sydney Flick stands as a dedicated and industrious dairy farmer, recently honored with the esteemed Farming for the Future award during the 2023 Wisconsin Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Agriculturists Conference.
As a driving force of her family-owned farm, named “Jazzy Jerseys”, Sydney has embarked on a new venture by launching a farm store. This endeavor aims to foster agritourism and connect visitors with the farming experience.
Sydney and her family wear multiple hats, not just as dairy farmers but as stewards of the land. Their commitment to cultivating crops to sustain their cows aligns harmoniously with their dedication to nurturing the soil and safeguarding it for future generations of farmers.
The Farming for the Future award recognizes the achievements of Sydney not only through the farm but her participation in Wisconsin Farm Bureau as well.
Sydney described the impact on her farm. “Our voice does have an impact on the legislature, and I became part of the organization because I saw the benefits that affect my farm personally.”
Sydney’s journey with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau began during her college years when her passion for agriculture was kindled by the advocacy of her collegiate chapter. Recruited by a local county board member, she swiftly became an integral part of this organization.
It was through the Columbia County Farm Bureau that Sydney found the encouragement to vie for the Farming for the Future award, acknowledging her notable achievements through the farm store and her unwavering commitment to her dairy farm’s success.
“Our goal is that we are farming for the future and the steps that we are taking now are to make this job a long job for us and hopefully for future generations to come,” Sydney shared, encapsulating the enduring spirit driving their efforts.
Her excitement for dairy farming is the largest contributor to moving the farm forward and strengthening her local agriculture.
