Kaitlyn Kesler’s involvement with Wisconsin Farm Bureau traces back to her upbringing on her family’s dairy farm in Crawford County. Her roots in agriculture instilled a deep-seeded passion that grew during her early years and led her to be named WFBF Young Farmer and Agriculturist’s 2023 Outstanding Agriculture Professional.
Immersing herself in the Farm Bureau community, Kaitlyn’s fascination with both the atmosphere and the people was ignited when she received sponsorship to attend the YFA conference in 2017. It was there that she forged meaningful connections with Farm Bureau personnel, sparking her desire for greater involvement.
Seeking continual growth and leadership enhancement, she enrolled in Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Leadership Institute, an endeavor aimed at nurturing her potential and promoting agricultural advancements.
“When I first became active in 2017, I never would have imagined that I would be on stage for one of the awards already in 2023,” Kaitlyn said, reflecting on her journey.
Her rapid growth within the organization exemplifies the possibilities and opportunities that can unfold within a relatively short span.
For Kaitlyn, Farm Bureau offers a personal outlet to champion agriculture, a facet she cannot professionally engage with in her role as the Director of Communications and Outreach at the Wisconsin Beef Council. The platform provided by WFBF workshops and programs has empowered her influence and advocate for decisions that significantly impact the agricultural landscape.
Kaitlyn was profoundly humbled by the recognition as the 2023 Outstanding Agriculture Professional, her hands trembling as she was announced as the winner.
“This award encourages me to tell people like me who do not quite know where their fit is in this organization, that there is a place for anyone and there are so many resources and people to help you succeed and grow,” said Kaitlyn.
The award has not only fortified her professional development but has also deeply resonated with her fervent devotion to agriculture, leaving a lasting impact on her personal journey with farming and advocacy.
