Collegiate Farm Bureau at UW-Madison elected new officers for the upcoming school year at its annual banquet on Tuesday, May 3 at the University Club on the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus.
Sara Griswold was elected President. Sara will be a junior in the fall, studying Life Sciences Communication. This summer Sara will be interning at Badgerland Financial as the marketing intern, working in marketing and sales, advertising and public relations, and event management. Sara is excited to lead this team of agriculture enthusiasts and looks forward to getting to know each officer and working with them to plan events, increase membership and promote agriculture on campus.
Serving as vice president will be Tony Schmitz of Fond du Lac. Tony is a junior studying Dairy Science and plans to go home to work on his family’s 200 cow Holstein farm for the summer. Tony is most excited to watch Collegiate Farm Bureau grow and gain more attention as a positive and respected student organization. He also hopes to better educate members and students here at UW about the importance of agriculture.
Collegiate Farm Bureau’s next secretary is Kelly Wilfert from Two Rivers. Kelly is a senior studying Agriculture and Applied Economics along with Life Sciences Communication. Kelly will be working for the American Farm Bureau Federation as the Policy Legislative Intern this summer, as well as participating in an agricultural study tour to Costa Rica through FFA. Kelly is looking forward to helping others take advantage of the many opportunities Collegiate Farm Bureau has to offer.
Serving as treasurer will be Connor Willems Reedsville. Connor is a junior studying Dairy Science. This summer Connor will be interning at Cargill with their Dairy Focused Consultants. Connor is excited to plan events for the organization that are both fun and a educational for the members.
The two directors-at-large are Alison Wedig from Darlington, a junior pursuing a degree in Life Sciences Communication. She is the Ag in the Classroom director-a-tlarge. Alison will be in Washington, D.C., this summer, working for National FFA as a facilitator for the Washington Leadership Conference. Alison is excited to help college students share their passion about agriculture and hopes to reach over 300 students in the Madison area with new lessons. Rachel Gerbitz, Public Relations director-at-large, is a sophomore studying Dairy Science and Life Sciences Communication from Milton. Rachel will be the Communications and Outreach intern for AgrAbility of Wisconsin this summer. Rachel is looking forward to being a positive face for this organization and for agriculture.
The Collegiate Farm Bureau is a University of Wisconsin – Madison student organization acting as a voice for agriculture – striving to educate the local college community about agriculture, the food sciences and agribusiness. The Collegiate Farm Bureau is affiliated with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation.
