Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President Brad Olson released the following statement today regarding recent updates to USDA’s School Nutrition Standards.
“Wisconsin Farm Bureau appreciates USDA’s recognition of the role flavored milk and cheese have in a nutritious meal. Allowing schools the option to continue offering flavored milk is not only important for building a balanced meal but also encourages additional milk consumption into the future.
We are disappointed the USDA missed an opportunity to restore 2% and whole milk to school breakfast and lunch. The science is clear that additional milk options provide a greater chance for positive health outcomes for America’s children.
WFBF will continue to work with lawmakers to enact Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act (H.R. 1147/S. 1957).”
