Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President Brad Olson released the following statement today regarding the passage of the Trust in Science Act (AB 764), which removes the Great Lakes wolf from the endangered species list:
“Wisconsin Farm Bureau applauds today’s action of the U.S House of Representatives to return management of the Great Lakes Wolf to Wisconsin. Our state’s farmers and rural residents support conservation practices including proper predator management and we hope the Senate finally provides the tools to state officials.
Wolves truly are a conservation success story we can be proud of and should be sharing loudly. The species population has grown in the Western Great Lakes region and is no longer at risk of endangerment. However, the story continues to be focused on activist judges thousands of miles away determining the future of Wisconsin’s apex predator. We need to do better for Wisconsin residents living in wolf country.
